Bloomberg: Foreigners Rebuff ‘Sell America’ and Buy a Net $1.6 Trillion in Assets

Foreign demand for US assets hit $1.55 trillion in 2025, underscoring the scale and structure of global capital flows.


CIO of Global Macro Dave Aspell told Chris Anstey and Anya Andrianova at Bloomberg that while “other markets can and do look attractive,” the scale of US government debt and mortgage markets makes it hard to find other markets capable of absorbing flows of that magnitude. “And the quality of the equity markets here is compelling.”


At a time when “Sell America” has become a popular narrative, the data points to continued demand for the depth and liquidity that US markets provide.
